    17. Description – Analysis of the Type, Style & Iconography :
The mosaic in the interior of the former Pioneer House, now the Municipal Children’s Complex in Veliko Tarnovo, covers two walls. It was created using natural stones of different colours, shapes, and sizes. The draft sketch of the mosaic and colorful pigments are visible underneath areas of collapsed stones.

    18. Signature/Artist’s Initials:

    19. Condition:
Although the bedding layer is sturdy, the pure cement solution used to connect the tesserae to the bedding layer did not sufficiently bond the parts together, resulting in the detachment of tesserae. The tesserae are individually placed, lacking mortar in the joints. Infiltrating moisture, evident in the wet patches on the mosaic surface, is causing tesserae detachment and salinization of the mosaic. Salinization is also induced by the use of cement as a bonding mortar. Additionally, the mosaic is affected by the painting of the surrounding wall and the bottom right corner of the mosaic on the larger of the two walls is partially obstructed by a ramp.
