Condition:
The visual access to the sgraffito is limited, preventing an full assessment of its condition. However, multiple instances of new and old water damage on the upper right and left corners of the workcan be seen from a distance. Complete sections of the sgraffito are absent, with some areas revealing gaps extending down to the building layer. Detachments of the colourful plaster occur vertically along the facade. Missing layers are visible, as well as unsuccessful attempts to cover and colour them. Detachment of the upper layer is also seen elsewhere on the work. -
Conservation / Restoration: No
-
Preservation Regimes according to Bulgaria’s Cultural Heritage Act:
In order to preserve the work, it is important to: secure access for a full condition assessment; address the cause of humidity; clean, strenghten and stabilize the plaster layers; and reconstruct the missing parts. In order to better present this work to the public, it is necessary to: provide for its regular maintenance and security; install lights for illumination; and add a plaque with the artist, title and year.
